The Langston believes that each and every resident has the right to receive the best possible quality of nursing care. As a result the home has adopted the following philosophy throughout its Quality Procedures.

Every resident has the right to the best possible nursing care, regardless of age, sex, religion or ethnic origin.

Every resident has the right to participate in the planning and implementation of their care.

Every resident is encouraged to retain as much independence as possible to enhance their self respect.

Every resident is encouraged to personalise their room.

Family and friends are given the opportunity to participate in the care of their loved ones.

The home maintains a homely, relaxed, therapeutic, atmosphere, which supports the delivery of professional care standards.

The home offers as much advice and support as requested or needed by families and friends of our residents.

The Langston works in partnership with those who reside in our home, their families, social workers, occupational therapists, nurses and physiotherapists, Primary Health Care Trust, social services and independent advocates such as Age Concern, PALS and the Alzheimer's Disease Society. Thus, an integrated approach to service provision is ensured.

ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE
Prospective residents will be invited to visit and meet the staff in order to assess the facilities and suitability of The Langston before moving in on a one month trial basis.

New residents will be admitted on the basis of a full assessment undertaken by our experienced assessors, to which the resident, his/her representative and relevant professionals have been party.

For individuals referred through Social and Health Care, the summary of their existing assessment and Care plan will be taken into careful consideration.

Admission assessment will include: personal care & well-being, diet & weight including dietary preferences, sight, hearing and communication, oral health, foot care, mobility and dexterity, history of falls, continence, medication use, mental state and cognition, social interests, hobbies, religious & cultural needs, personal safety & risks, and family involvement. From the Admission procedure, a Plan of Care for Daily Living will be prepared, which will form the basis of the care to be provided, and will also provide a yardstick for measuring whether appropriate care is being delivered.

Terms of Business - The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of all health and adult social care in England and was set up on the 1st April 2009. Their aim is to make sure better care is provided for everyone, whether that’s in hospital, in care homes, in people’s own homes, or elsewhere. The CQC regulates our business and we are obliged to give you this Statement of Purpose. Use this information to decide if our services are right for you.
